Breaking Wii news from Japan’s Wii conference

Here’s what everyone is waiting for the price and launch date of the Wii:

Japan: December 2 / 25,000 yen ($213)

North America / South America: November 19th / $250 (From New York Times leak)

 

As it was rumored the Wii will be bundled with Wii Sports, a sports game package with Tennis, Baseball and Bowling. Wii Sports was shown at E3 and gives console owners a good idea of how the Wiimote works.

 

Virtual Console titles will be priced according to the system.

NES / Famicom titles cost – 500 yen ($4)

Super NES / Super Famicom titles cost – 800 yen ($7)

Nintendo 64 – 1,000 yen ($8.50)

 

We’re guessing that a similar price structure will be around for North America where NES games will cost $5, Super NES will cost $7.50, Nintendo 64 $10.

 

Update 1:

The launch in Japan will have sixteen different titles from ten companies. Wii games will cost between 4,800 yen ($40) – 6,800 yen ($57). The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be a launch title and sold for 6,800 yen.

Update 3: Nintendo has a new trailer up with a bunch of footage of Wii titles like Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. There is also footage of new games such as Cooking Mama, Wii Music, Dog Island, Pokemon, Fire Emblem and a Shin Chan party game.
