Taito’s lesser known hero, Tiki the kiwi, is going to come out of retirement for New Zealand Story Revolution. The remake of the NES / Genesis / arcade game is being handled by Rising Star games who plans to keep the same feel of the game, but redesign level layouts for a fresh challenge. If you never heard of Kiwi Kraze before that isn’t a surprise because the game was never as popular as other Taito franchises like Bubble Bobble. After a single platforming game where Tiki rescued his kiwi friends from being kiwinapped by seals, the franchise was put to a halt. Kiwi Kraze’s development was continued by homebrew groups who made unofficial sequels based on the 1988 release. Currently this game is only planned for a release in Europe, but a North American release is entirely possible if sales of the game are high enough.
